Terms of Service
Last updated: 11 October 2026
These terms cover your use of https://www.rjlpainting.com and the basis on which RJL Painting provides estimates and painting work. The specific terms of any job you book are set out in the written estimate you sign, and where the two differ, that estimate controls.
Using this website
The content here — including pricing ranges, timelines and technical guidance — is provided in good faith for general information. It is written from our own experience in Central Florida and we believe it to be accurate, but it is not a substitute for someone looking at your actual building. Do not rely on a published range as a quotation.
Estimates
- Estimates are free, written and itemised. There is no deposit to obtain one and no obligation to proceed.
- An estimate is valid for 30 days from its date unless it says otherwise. Material prices move.
- An estimate covers the scope described in it. Work discovered once preparation begins — hidden rot, failed substrate, undisclosed damage — is quoted separately and in writing before it is carried out. We will not do extra work and invoice you for it afterwards.
- Pricing ranges published on this website are planning guidance, not offers. Only a written, signed estimate is an offer.
Scheduling and weather
Exterior work in Central Florida is weather-dependent and we will not coat a surface that will not have time to cure before rain. Where weather delays a job we will tell you as soon as we know and reschedule at the earliest workable opportunity. Weather delays are not a breach of these terms by either party.
Access and site conditions
- You agree to provide reasonable access to the work areas, to an outdoor water supply and to electrical power.
- You agree to tell us about anything that affects safe working: pets, horses, livestock, alarms, gate codes, irrigation schedules, septic and well locations, and any known structural or electrical defects.
- We ask you to remove or secure genuinely irreplaceable items — artwork, electronics, heirlooms — before we begin. We cover and protect everything else as part of the job.
Payment
- Payment terms are stated on your estimate. For most residential jobs a deposit is due on scheduling and the balance on completion.
- Completion means the work in the agreed scope is finished and the walkthrough punch list has been addressed.
- Invoices are due on the terms shown on the invoice. Late payment may attract a reasonable late fee where stated on the estimate.
Workmanship warranty
We warrant our workmanship for the period stated on your written estimate. If a coating we applied fails within that period because of how we applied it, we will put it right at no charge. The warranty does not cover failure caused by:
- Substrate failure, structural movement, settlement or rot that existed before we worked and that you asked us to coat over after we flagged it.
- Water intrusion from roofs, plumbing, air conditioning, irrigation or flashing.
- Physical damage, impact, abrasion, pressure washing at excessive pressure, or chemical damage.
- Normal fading, chalking and wear — particularly on horizontal timber, fence lines and south or west elevations, which weather faster in this climate.
- Work on surfaces you instructed us to coat against our written recommendation.
Coating manufacturers provide their own separate product warranties. We will tell you what the specified product carries so you know which failures are covered by whom.
Cancellation
- You may cancel a scheduled job at no cost up to 48 hours before the agreed start date.
- Inside 48 hours, any materials already purchased specifically for your job — custom-tinted paint in particular, which cannot be returned — are chargeable.
- We may cancel or reschedule for weather, safety or crew illness, and will tell you as soon as we know.
Refunds
If you are not satisfied with completed work, tell us before paying the final balance. Our first remedy is always to come back and correct it — that is faster and better for you than a partial refund on a job you still have to live with. Where a refund is genuinely the right answer, we will agree it in writing.
Insurance and liability
RJL Painting carries general liability insurance and will provide a certificate on request. Our liability for any claim arising from a job is limited to the amount paid for that job, except where the law does not allow such a limit. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Photography
We photograph completed work for our portfolio and may publish those photographs on this website and on social media. We do not publish addresses or identify customers. Tell us at any point if you would rather we did not photograph your property and we will not.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, and any dispute will be handled in the courts of Marion County, Florida.
